I enjoy seeing the Mark II 5D in this type of shooting environment. It really gives me hope that these type of under $10k camera systems are the wave of the future.
I also think it is awesome when the guy comments on the future items he would like to see from the Canon Corporation. Hopefully they will listen, because if not, I bet Nikon is trying to do what the consumer market wants. What does Nikon have to lose, they aren't competing against their own line up of video cameras, as Canon is right now.
The Mark II 5D is an amazing camera. I just recently purchased one and I am totally in love with it. I use it mainly for stock footage, and it is a game changer. The depth of field is so beautiful, the video quality kicks my HDV cameras butts. I just can't say enough good about it.
I am putting together a workflow for ediitng h264 (.mov) video straight out of the camera and into your editing software (Premiere CS3)... so stay tuned.
